Quinn, your best friend, has brought you some awful news: your illustrious parents, having run out of potential mates for their brood, have set you up with the worst person you know -- Devon Bainbridge. Your intended is uncouth, self-indulgent, and ten years your senior.

Of course, if no one can find you, the wedding's off, right?

You make a daring escape from your family's castle, get pressed into joining a rebellion, and find yourself fighting alongside a plucky bard, brooding bandit, naive idealist, and a fool-in-training. Escape marriage, join a rebellion, and find love... or sabotage it all.

Meet the Love Interests

Quinn, The Fool

Quinn can be male, female, or nonbinary, depending on player choice.

The jester, Quinn, is an acrobat, juggler, contortionist, and wit. Employed for the sharpness of their tongue, Quinn is blunt and unflinching with a jibe -- or worse, the truth.

Quinn is tall and lean, often moving with almost liquid grace. They are hyperflexible and often practice their skills as a contortionist and an acrobat. Their face is narrow, with high cheekbones and gray-blue eyes. Their manner of dress is a colorful jester's outfit and cap, accentuated with bells. Underneath the cap, they have short, wavy, golden-blond hair.

Quinn is determined to ensure the player character will marry only where their heart lies.

Sloan, The Bandit

Sloan can be male or female, depending on the player character's sexuality.

The bandit, Sloan, has a quick wit and a quicker hand. They are always ready to challenge those who abuse their authority and are generous to those who look out for others.

Sloan is short and athletically built, with a confident bearing. A jagged scar cuts across their left cheek, a shocking white against their deep bronze skin. They keep their shoulder-length, coiled black hair neatly tied back with a leather cord, allowing them to better see their targets. Despite their intensity toward their enemies, their warm brown eyes are gentle when fixed on those they protect. If male, dark stubble covers their jawline. They dress simply, with green mid-thigh length tunics and tights.

Sloan will stop at nothing to give the common people the voice that has been denied to them. 

Alistair/Alastronia, The Heir

Al can be a man or a woman, depending on the player character's sexuality.

The heir, Al, voraciously consumes novels and histories, longing for an adventure of their own. When given the opportunity to defend their subjects against banditry, they leap at the opportunity.

Al is a born fencer, tall and lithe, moving with precise control, both on the battlefield and among their father's courtiers. A smattering of freckles adds interest to their otherwise smooth, amber skin. When they aren't training or riding, they wear their loosely-coiled coppery-red hair loose. The honey-brown eyes betray their heart too often, showing the vast compassion they have for others. Though they certainly have the wardrobe to match their status, they tend to prefer practical clothes, though still tasteful and finely tailored.

Al believes they have found their purpose in serving their people, something for which they are endlessly grateful.

Reese, The Bard

Reese is nonbinary.

The bard, Reese, was uprooted when their parents were promoted to foreign diplomats but found comfort in playing the songs from their faraway homeland. 

As the child of diplomats and a skilled musician, Reese is well-acquainted with the power of words to influence perception and persuade. Fluent in several languages, their silver tongue allows them to convince others of the righteousness of whatever argument they support. Cool and composed, Reese is the velvet glove over a steel hand.

Reese is of average height and of athletic build, with golden brown skin and short, fluffy, light brown hair. Their deep-set, dark brown eyes are heavy-lidded and accentuated by kohl. They wear a short, well-trimmed beard and mustache, and are generally well put together, wearing stylish saris, caftans, and kurta. Gold-and-ruby earrings with their family crest dangle from their ears.

Reese seeks an epic story, worthy of dedicating their masterpiece.
